Hearing loss affects people of all ages and is caused by a variety of circumstances. Sensorineural hearing loss, conductive hearing loss, and mixed hearing loss are the three main types of hearing loss. What patients should know about each category is as follows. This form of hearing loss happens in the outer or middle ear, when sound waves cannot travel all the way to the inner ear.
